Interview with Joseph Buscema (Live The Story)

Who Are You?
My name is Joseph Buscema and I play drums in Live The Story.

Why do you play music?
I play music as a form to express myself and honestly, it’s about all I know how to do. There are not many things I am good at or can see myself doing for the rest of my life… In fact music is all I can do for the rest of my life.

What has been on your mind lately?
Not a whole lot, I have been trying to clear my mind of any anxieties or thoughts that depress me. I’m learning to live day by day and accept my life for what it is. The more I think about things, the more upset I get. The world can be an ugly place or a beautiful place. That is up to you.

What’s happening with your band lately?
A bunch of tours in the works, some cool media stuff that you will probably hear about soon and just generally writing new music.

Any bands you can recommend to us?
You must check out Like Pacific. Every other band I could name here, you have probably already listened to.

Best concert you have ever been too?
So hard to pinpoint one concert/ show… But I guess the first time I saw Rancid in Toronto. I also got to see H20 at the Reverb (RIP) which was a legendary venue (apart of the Big Bop) in Toronto. I recently got to see Casey Jones for the first and last time in Toronto in a small room, which was awesome.

What are you most excited for in 2012?
To hopefully begin to fully live out my dreams.

Interview with Colin Jacques (The Heights)

Who Are You?
Colin Jacques – I play Bass and sing and junk in The Heights (Finger-gunz)

Why do you play music?
One of the greatest feelings I know is getting up on stage every night with my best friends (regardless of the day we’ve had, any fights, lack of food and sleep…) and playing my heart out for anyone and everyone that is in the place. It is this weird place of mind in our music that can be personal to everyone who is listening, and even to us playing it! Simply put, I play music because there is nothing in the world I love more than music. Touring, writing, recording, its what I love to do more than anything else.

What has been on your mind lately?
We have taken the longest break from shows that we have ever had as a band to write and record the new record. So I guess what is on my mind is shows! I just want to get back out on the road again as soon as possible! Aside from the band, we are all attending University/College, and for me especially, school is always that knaggy mom in the back of your mind.

What’s happening with your band lately?
We are currently in the middle of recording our second record. The process has been amazing! Over the holidays we headed back to Newcomb Studios (https://www.facebook.com/newcombstudios) to work with Adam Newcomb once again. The experience has been nothing but fun for all of us and we are incredibly excited for the new record!

Any bands you can recommend to us?
I like to pride myself as a huge supporter of Independant Canadian music! I can never get enough! Like Pacific is an awesome Pop-Punk band from Toronto (https://www.facebook.com/likepacific) They put out a free EP a while back and have some new tunes coming soon! To Tell The Tale and The Heights go way back, and I have always loved those boys. Really cool Pop-Punk hailing from the GTA (https://www.facebook.com/totellthetale) they also have a free EP and new awesome tunes coming out very soon! And it would be right NOT to mention Lifestory: Monologue. In my opinion, the most unique and interesting band coming out of Canada! I actually have a full chest piece with their lyrics haha. (https://www.facebook.com/lifestorymonologue) Amazing bands, amazing music. Gotta love your independent music

Best concert you have ever been too?
Always a tough question to answer! I would have to say either Every Time I Die or Mayday Parade. Very different bands I know! ETID just has an amazing live show! They just make it incredibly fun to be in the crowd! And Mayday Parade are my guilty pleasure, something about that band gets me every time!

What are you most excited for in 2012?
I am excited to release the new record and tour to the BONE! Going to reach further than ever before! We have some really cool stuff coming out along with the record so you all should make sure to stay in touch!
